Cut Flower Subscriptions

Flower Bouquet Subscriptions

A flower bouquet subscription is a type of CSA. CSA stands for community supported agriculture. They are a way for you to support a local farmer. A customer typically joins a CSA in winter or early spring before the growing season and their payment is an investment in the farm in exchange for a share of what’s grown that year.

Similarly, when you purchase a bouquet subscription you purchase a share of the flowers grown by Fern Forest Flowers that year. Each week of your membership you’ll receive a fresh, handmade, seasonal bouquet for your investment. All flowers are grown with sustainability in mind. I follow organic growing practices as much as possible and avoid the use of harsh fertilizers and pesticides.

Our Growing Seasons

The typical growing season for cut flowers in the Portland-Metro area is April through September. Here at Fern Forest Flowers I grow almost exclusively field cut flowers. This means that when I have flowers depends on the weather and when I am able to work our soil. This year I should have flowers starting in Late July.

How It Works

Step 1: Buy a share

Decide what subscription type you’d like that works best for you. You can read about the types of subscriptions in the next section below.

If you are purchasing a share as a gift be sure to complete the gift information during check out.

Step 2: Receive your share instructions

Each share member will receive an email with details on their subscription. Including the pick up time and location in North Plains. This email usually goes out about two weeks before flowers are available.

Step 3: Receive your flower share

Members will pick up their share of flowers each week of their subscription from the designated location.

If your going on vacation or are unable to pick up your share during your subscription you can have someone else pick up your flowers in your place.

Dahlia Share add-on

The dahlia share add-on will pack 2 or 4 weeks of your subscription with some of the best dahlias we have growing on the farm. Dahlia arrangements are some of the most loved by my customers.

This add on is perfect for anyone who adores dahlias.

Flower Care

Our customers always remark about how long our flowers last. Fresh cut flowers last a remarkable amount of time compared to grocery store flowers or even flowers from a traditional flower shop. We harvest and arrange our flowers just a few days before their pick-up date to ensure members have the freshest flowers possible. When we say fresh cut we really mean it.

Some individual flowers have a shorter vase life but overall our arrangements usually last 5-7 days and sometimes even longer. Flowers are a perishable product and vase life can vary greatly depending on flower variety and the care they receive in the home. Specific instructions will be provided with each bouquet on how to maximize the life of your bouquets.
